I am a C O L L E C T O R  – Co l l e c t o r – collector – c  o  l  l  e  c  t  o  r – collector …

I have a huge love for bundles of pretty things.  Once I’ve started collecting a specific pretty pretty ornament, either whites or silver, I can’t stop!  Another fascinating fact is that the pretties are looking out for me – calling my name and beg me to buy them. I am sure if you’re a serious collector, you would know the feeling …….

My trophee collection … and crystals

I have a passion for old Bibles – especially the small ones.  Afrikaans, English, Dutch, and French ones – some of them published early in the 1800’s

Old books and old photographs in old frames with rounded glass

A collection of whites and cement

Let there be light …. and candlesticks!!!

A few of my favourite white things

I collect old prints – The Old Masters Leonardo da Vinci and Rembrandt van Rijn (my favourite painter)

Rembrandt was the most profound of all the great artists who have attemped to interpred the mystery of humanity.  Rembrandt stood apart from all his fellow artists for he lived in the isolation of his own great visions, and in poverty and solitude wrought to perfection those entirely personal methods by which he revealed and gave form to his visions.

Valentines Day

Somerset West is a very special town with a bunch of very creative people.  It is amazing to see their creativity and interesting ideas.  They painted the town red red red …

Harte in die bome, harte in die lug, harte orals!

Hearts in trees, hearts in the sky, hearts everywhere

Rooi harte – rooi harte – rooi harte

Red hearts – Red hearts – Red hearts

Markgoed:  Fees van die Engele:  Oktober 2011

Markgoed:  Feast of the Angels:  October 2011

The two angels Jana Barnardt and Retief Ferreira – our mascots for Markgoed:  Feast of the Angels

Markgoed:  Feast of the Angels was the fourth market held in my house.  My friend and partner, Jean den Heijer, have fun the whole year, collecting and sourcing “finds” for our yearly sale.  The market take place once a year, early to mid October.  People from as far as Ceres, Hermanus, Greyton and Durbanville visit us and we have our regulars that visit us each day of the 3 day market.

We are already working for the next sale in October and will keep in touch!

The Brocante room – The Room with all the “finds”!!!!

Friends enjoying a cup of coffee – with a delectable piece of cheese cake and angel cake

Christmas Table with old crockery, silver, glass, paper garlands en pretty things!

Old books, old Bibles – I just love the smell of old books

Lekker gesels met ou vriende en kennise

Serious conversations
